The Peoria Mustangs' offense had a big night, peppering the Wausau RiverWolves with 50 shots throughout the game. The Peoria Mustangs took the lead before the halfway point in the first on a goal from Blake Finley and never looked back.
Blake Finley did his part, adding 2 goals and Brandon Hay chipped in with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist).
In the first period, Hay opened the scoring for Peoria with a goal at 0:47 with helpers from teammates Mchenry and Ulrich. Finley deposited what turned out to be the game winning goal at 7:22 with an assist from Stewart. Bauer quickly followed with a goal at 8:55 with a helper from Stewart. Finley put in a goal at 13:35 with assists from Stewart and Keil. Alton quickly followed with a goal at 14:51 with helpers from Pinkert and Hempel.
In the third, Mchenry answered for Peoria with a goal at 1:25 with assists from Hay and Ulrich.
The Mustangs’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Meyer as he stopped 19 of the 20 shots he faced. Meyer’s counterpart, Baribeau, also had a big night, managing to stop 45 of 50, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the Peoria Mustangs’ record to (19-16-1-1).
