The Peoria Mustangs' offense had a big night, peppering the Lansing Wolves with 31 shots throughout the game. The Peoria Mustangs took the lead early in the second on a goal from Blake Finley.
Jack Healy chipped in with 3 points (2 goals, 1 assist) and Blake Finley had no trouble finding the scoresheet, adding 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist).
In the first period, Healy opened the scoring for Peoria with a goal at 3:18 with a helper from defenseman Layne. Smith answered for the Wolves with a goal at 15:28 with a helper from his teammate Ashley.
In the second, Finley answered for the Mustangs with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 4:07 with assists from Power Wayvon and Radley. Mchenrey put in a goal at 8:36 with an assist from Healy. Roberts quickly followed with a goal at 10:11 with helpers from Zowin and Power Wayvon. Healy netted a goal at 18:42 with assists from Mcdonald and Zowin.
During the third, Keil deposited a goal at 2:29 with a helper from defenseman Finley.
The Mustangs’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Meyer as he stopped 22 of the 23 shots he faced. Meyer’s counterpart, Deering, also had a big night, managing to stop 19 of 25, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the Peoria Mustangs’ record to (7-4-0-0).
