Mustangs D Charlie Killian Signs NAHL Tender with Springfield

On February 2nd, 2021, the Peoria Mustangs announced that defenseman Charlie Killian has signed a NAHL tender with the Springfield Jr. Blues hockey club for the 2021-22 season.

The Mendota Heights, MN native signed his tender with his Mustangs teammates, coaches and Jr. Blues coach Tyler Rennette in attendance at the Owens Center in Peoria.

Killian formerly played with the NAHL’s New Mexico Ice Wolves where he was teammates with former Mustang Dillan Bentley. Killian signed to the Mustangs on January 11th of 2021.

Throughout his 4 games played with the Mustangs so far, Killian has tallied 2 assists.

The Peoria to Springfield pipeline has seen a significant boost in recent years with former Mustangs such as Braden Stewart, Tristan Trudel and Blake Finley suiting up for the Jr. Blues. Additionally, former Mustangs coach Tyler Rennette is the head coach for the Springfield Jr. Blues.

Mustangs assistant coach Blake Ortman shared in his excitement for Killian’s signing. “When Charlie came to us from New Mexico, his plan was to develop and get back to the NAHL next year. He came to Peoria with a great attitude and an incredible work ethic. We are very happy for Charlie and can’t wait to see him have success at the next level.”
