GAME PREVIEW: PEORIA MUSTANGS VS. ROCHESTER GRIZZLIES

PEORIA, IL –  The Mustangs find themselves riding high after yet another dominant series against a Central Division squad. This past weekend, the Mustangs swept the Oregon Tradesmen in convincing fashion by putting up 10 goals in 2 games. In the end, the Mustangs claimed their 6th and 7th straight victory and third consecutive series win. But there are still hurdles to clear as the 2020 part of the season comes to a close. This week the 1st place Rochester Grizzlies will pay a visit to the Owens Center to challenge the Mustangs’ hot streak. Judging by their past few games, the Mustangs appear ready to answer the challenge presented by Rochester. With players such as F Ethan Chesney and G Cole Walter firing on all cylinders, the Mustangs boast the arsenal to keep their hot streak going.

BRINGING IN THE 2021 MOMENTUM

Despite the season only being halfway over with still much to be determined, both squads would like to end the year with a pair of wins in their pocket as they look toward the final half of the season in 2021. The Mustangs have already played a large majority of their road schedule due to COVID-19 restrictions so the 2nd half of the schedule heavily favors the Mustangs with their home ice advantage throughout the rest of the season. 2021 is a sight for sore eyes. With multiple promising vaccines, the concept of having fans back in sports arenas before the end of the season seems promising which would be promising for both squads looking to build momentum in the new year.

A LOOK AT THE GRIZZLIES

Both the Mustangs and the Grizzlies have been the top teams in the NA3HL Central Division so far in the 2020-21 campaign. The Grizzlies find themselves 4 points ahead in the standings of the Central Division boasting a 13-2 record. One of their blemishes comes at the hands of the Mustangs who upset the Grizzlies at the Rochester Rec Center back on November 14 with a 2-1 victory. Since the upset, the Grizzlies have put up a 4-1 record. Leading the charge for the Grizzlies is F Peyton Hart with his statistics of 10 goals and 7 assists in 15 games played. Right behind him in goals scored is F Matthew DeRosa with 8 goals. Look for both of these players to have a heavy say in the scoring this weekend.
