Mustangs Post 2-1 Record During Three Game Weekend Set

Peoria, IL – The Peoria Mustangs and Milwaukee Power met for the first time this season at the Owens Center and the 3rd and 4th times overall this weekend. The Mustangs cruised to an 11-3 triumph Friday night as Ethan Chesney netted 4 total goals with 3 of the goals coming on the power play. Chesney recorded his second hat trick in a week in Friday night’s win. Jared Wisely added a goal and 4 assists in the contest totaling 5 PTS in the series. Goalie Nahuel Veyan stopped 15 of 18 shots faced Friday night in the victory. Additionally, Chris Kondiles posted a career high 9-game point streak and Brett Anderson recorded his first career goal. On Saturday, the Mustangs suffered only their second regulation loss of the season on home ice, falling to the Power 6-4. After the two-game set with the Power, the Mustangs sat at 10-7-3 on the season.

The Mustangs welcomed rival St. Louis Jr. Blues to Peoria for a Sunday afternoon matinee game – the third in three days for the home team. Peoria tallied a goal in each of the three periods and got 17 saves from goalie Joe Ambroffi to cap the weekend with a 3-1 Central Division victory at the Owens Center. With the win, the Mustangs improved to 11-7-3 on the season and remain in 3rd place in the Central Division with 25 standings points.

The Mustangs will head to Milwaukee for a pair of games against the Power next weekend at the Ozaukee Ice center in Mequon, WI. Saturday afternoon’s game gets underway at 12:30 p.m. and Sunday’s game face off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. CST.
