WAUSAU, WI – The Peoria Mustangs will return from their week off for a three game road set vs. the Wausau RiverWolves. This last week, the Mustangs’ three road games (one at Wausau and two at Oregon) were cancelled due to ice availability. There is currently no word on make-up games for the Oregon series but the cancelled Wausau game will be made up on March 20, 2021 at 7:10 PM in Wausau.

Starting on Friday, the Mustangs and the RiverWolves will begin a three game set at Marathon Park in Wausau. Kicking off the weekend is a 7:10 PM puck-drop on Friday night. As previously stated, the Mustangs will be coming off of a bye-weekend due to cancellations. On the other side of the ice, the RiverWolves are coming off of two losses to division leader Rochester. The Grizzlies pinned a 7-2 loss on Wausau on Jan. 29th and pinned a 4-3 OT loss on Wausau on Jan. 30th. Despite the two losses, Wausau defenseman Ethan Cumming claimed Central Division Star of the Week honors after posting 4 goals and 1 assist in the weekend series vs. Rochester.

The Mustangs remain perfect vs. Wausau in the 2020-21 campaign holding a 4-0 record against the RiverWolves. Two of these wins for the Mustangs came at the Owens Center in Peoria and the other two wins came at Marathon Park in Wausau.

Even though the Mustangs did not see any division competition this week, the squad still managed to have a big week. On Jan. 27th, the Mustangs participated in a 3×3 intrasquad tournament at the Owens Center. The Mob squad emerged victorious out of a 6 team pool.

On Tuesday, Feb. 2nd, the Mustangs announced that defenseman Charlie Killian has signed a NAHL tender with the Springfield Jr. Blues for the 2021-22 season. Killian signed his tender with his teammates and coaches in attendance at the Owens Center.

Finally, on Thursday, Feb 4th, Mustangs G Cole Walter was named the NA3HL & Vaughn Hockey Goaltender of the Month. Cole posted a 5-1-0 record along with a .938 save percentage in January. He was previously awarded this honor in November of 2020.
