Mustangs Win Fifth Straight; Sweep Jr. Blues At Home

Peoria, IL – The Peoria Mustangs and St. Louis Jr. Blues met for the second and third times this season at the Owens Center. Saturday night the Mustangs got goals from 5 different skaters, 10 total players earned a point, and 7 skaters collected a multi-point outing as the Mustangs cruised to an 8-4 win over their Central Division rival. The Mustangs kept their foot on the gas during Sunday afternoon’s game against St. Louis. The squad launched 62 shots on goal and skated away with a 6-0 victory over the visitors with contributions from the entire team. The weekend sweep is the second consecutive for Peoria who ended the weekend locked in a second place tie with the Oregon Tradesmen with 33 standings points. The weekend wins took the Mustangs to their fifth consecutive divisional wins.

By The Numbers: Forward Jake Ratner collected his first NA3HL goal Saturday night, he added a second goal for his first career multi-goal game…For the second time this season Tristan Trudel posted 4 points with a goal and 3 assists…Defenseman Justin Hubble collected a pair of goals in Saturday’s contest, his second multi-goal game vs St. Louis this season…Thomas Kayner had a pair of goals and an assist in Saturday’s game, giving him points in three straight outings…The Mustangs fired 62 shots on goal in Sunday afternoon’s contest, St. Louis managed just 10…Thomas Kayner now has points in 4 straight games…Chris Kondiles collected 5 points in the two game weekend series…Jake Ratner has points in back-to-back games for the first time in his career…

What’s Ahead: The Mustangs remain at home and close out the 2021 portion of the schedule Friday night (12/17) with the St. Louis Jr. Blues. They will play Monday 12/20 at 8:30 p.m. CST as they take on the Texas Roadrunners. Peoria will play again Tuesday, 12/21 at 1:30 p.m. CST when they square off against the Bozeman Icedogs.
