The Peoria Mustangs' offense had a big night, peppering the La Crosse Freeze with 38 shots throughout the game. The Peoria Mustangs took the lead late in the first on a goal from Blake Finley and never looked back.
Ian Mchenrey contributed with 2 goals and Jack Healy delivered for his team with 2 assists.
In the first period, Mchenrey opened the scoring for Peoria with a goal at 8:43 with a helper from his teammate Healy. Finley netted what turned out to be the game winning goal at 16:44 with an assist from Stewart.
During the second, Radley deposited a goal at 13:15 with helpers from Power-Wayvon and Stewart. Mchenrey put in a goal at 18:04 with assists from Mcdonald and Healy.
In the third period, Tilmon finally put the Freeze on the board with a goal at 19:34 with helpers from Bettis and Zukowski.
The Mustangs’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Gardner’s big night as he stopped 31 of the 32 shots he faced. Gardner’s counterpart, Graves, also had a big night, managing to stop 22 of 26, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the Peoria Mustangs’ record to (35-22-3-0).
