During the first period, Jackson opened the scoring for Peoria with a goal at 16:29 with helpers from Mcdonald and Zowin.
In the second, Stewart put in what turned out to be the game winning goal at 0:07 with helpers from teammates Keil and Power-Wayvon. Mcdonald scored a goal at 4:17 with assists from Layne and Healy. Keil deposited a goal at 11:48 with helpers from Jackson and Finley. Healy put in a goal at 16:11 with assists from Mcdonald and Layne.
During the third, Kifer finally put the Jr. Thunderbolts on the board with a goal at 2:05 with a helper from defenseman Rowe. Finley answered for Peoria with a goal at 5:17 with an assist from Stewart.
The Mustangs’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Freiburger’s big night as he stopped 29 of the 30 shots he faced. Freiburger’s counterpart, Linenburg, also had a big night, managing to stop 27 of 32, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the Peoria Mustangs’ record to (4-2-0-0).
