The Mustangs shutout the Jr. Thunderbolts 6-0

Jack Power Wayvon had a big night with 4 points (0 goals, 4 assists) as the Peoria Mustangs crushed the Evansville Jr. Thunderbolts 6-0 in a home game at Owens Center in Peoria. Also, Jaden Gardner posted a shutout, stopping all 35 of Evansville shots throughout the game. The Peoria Mustangs took the lead late in the first on a goal from Braden Stewart and never looked back.

Jack Healy did his part, adding 2 goals and Rhett Mcdonald delivered for his team with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist).

During the first, Stewart opened the scoring for the Mustangs with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 18:16 with helpers from teammates Radley and Power Wayvon.

In the second period, Mcdonald deposited a goal at 6:45 with an assist from his defensive partner, Power Wayvon. Healy put in a goal at 15:28 with helpers from Power Wayvon and Hay.

In the third, Radley netted a goal at 1:59 with assists from Finley and Power Wayvon. Healy scored a goal at 13:41 with helpers from Mchenry and Mcdonald. Straker quickly followed with a goal at 15:14 with assists from his linemates, Mickel and Bauer.

The Mustangs’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Gardner’s shutout, as he stopped all 35 of the shots he faced. Gardner’s counterpart, Linenburg, also had a big night, managing to stop 61 of 67, but ultimately fell short.

This win brings the Peoria Mustangs’ record to (2-0-0-0).
